Weekly Reflection
26th February
This week I researched 90's Video Games to get a reference point of how my FMP is going to look. Something that I wanted to achieve was to find a tutorial of how to make VHS filter in Premier Pro so I can use it in my FMP. The thing I learned this week was how 90's Video Game graphics are made using a VHS filter and how they are made in this generation. My priorities for moving on are to research how to import 2D aspects in 3D Environments (Blender).
5th March
This week I worked on my FMP Pitch to get it ready for Monday. I wanted to try to expand of my GANTT Chart so I can have more of a plan before developing my FMP. This week I learnt how to import 2D aspects into Blender which will help me set up my FMP. My priorities for moving on is to expand on my Pitch by adding more images and skills.
12th March
This week I worked on my Project Proposal Document and Survey. I wanted to achieve and finish the last two categories on my Project Proposal Document before Monday. This week I did not learn much because I focused on getting my Project Proposal Document ready done by next week. My next step is finishing the Project Proposal Document and start doing research for my FMP.
19th March
This week I researched how to create unusual audio soundscapes and basic 3D modelling techniques in Blender. I wanted to try and expand on different modelling references and resources for creating 3D characters in Blender. This week I learned how Tobias Lilja created the soundtrack/ ambience for Little Nightmares I & II. My priorities for moving on is to focus on the 2D aspect side of the FMP.
26th March
This week I started modelling my Location for my FMP and created different models for each of the rooms. I tried to finish modelling in detail but I focused on getting the main aspects ready for animating my project. I learnt how to join objects in Blender which makes it easier to model and animate. One thing I wanted to learn this week was to create unusual shapes to make the location standout.
9th April
This week I focused on getting my location modelling complete. I did not learn anything new this week because I focused on getting my modelling finished. I wanted to learn something to help model faster so that I can get more modelling done before animating
16th April
I started creating another 2D character for my FMP. I made the character in Illustrator because I feel comfortable drawing on a computer rather than on paper. I learnt how to join objects together and to colour them in. I wanted to learn how to fully animate a 2D character in Illustrator.
23rd April
I started animating the first and second scene of my animation this week. I had to model the exterior of my location. I decided to make the location distant from the city so I can have more time animating rather than modelling. I also had to focus on animating the camera, character and door which took some time for all of them to sync together. I learnt how to make a different colour green screen in Premiere and how to track a 2d image onto my 3D character which had to be done frame by frame. I wanted to learn how to make an object stick to a certain part of the video so it does not shake and to learn how to create my own VHS filter on Premiere.
30th April
I started animating the 3rd, 4th and 5th scene of my animation. I tried to animate as much as possible because I wanted to extend the story of my FMP. I learnt how to slow down clips in premiere so they will not be too fast when rendered in Blender, this helped me a lot when editing. One thing I wanted to learn this week was to create different transitions in Premiere instead of fading to black and white.
7th May
This week I managed to animate Scenes 7 through 9. It took some time to render in Blender because the scenes were all bunched together in one take. I decided to add in the Boss' 2D character in the editing process so I did not have to focus on animating 2D and 3D aspects in Blender. This week I learnt how to animate different scenes in one take in Blender which makes it easier to animate but is difficult to render. This week I wanted to try and learn how to use a 3D green screen in Blender to import the 2D characters in the 3D environment.
14th May
This week I emended some of my FMP and website. I added in 2 more 2D characters into the background of my project and cleaned up some 2D tracking. I also slowed the duration of some of the dialogue boxes so viewers can have enough time to read them. I learnt how to properly track 2D aspects onto 3D Scenes frame by frame. I did however want to learn if you can motion track in Premiere.
21th May
This week I added in the Last scene of my FMP and also the credits, whilst adding to my Wix site to get it ready for my FMP presentation. I learnt how to add a lighting effect and clean up the softness and intensity. I wanted to learn how to improve on lighting in Premiere Pro and other software's.
28th May
This week I finished up the final touches on my project and my website so I it is ready for presentation. This week I learnt how to create a vocal effect using digital synthesisers in Logic Pro. I wish I learnt how to slow down footage in Premiere without it loosing frame rate.
